The Water Industry Operators Association of Australia (WIOA) is the Peak Body nationally for people in operational roles in the water industry. With an expanding national membership base, WIOA facilitates the collection, development and exchange of quality operational information with its members and water industry stakeholders.
The Association has over 4,400 members and produces several publications, develops technical resources, and conducts conferences, exhibitions, seminars and other events focused on “operators” annually.
Members come from both the Private or Public Sector, and from every operational sector of the water industry. Along with treatment plant, networks and other operators, we have members from a variety of roles including operations management, engineering, urban design and planning, science, research, academia and energy.
WIOA’s key objectives include:
Training
The Association organises and funds a variety of Member seminars to meet the objective of continually upgrading knowledge. These seminars are informative and topical given the ongoing changes to the structure of, and technologies employed in, the water industry.
WIOA is a member of the Water Industry Reference Committee (WIRC) and has been actively involved in the review and development of the Water Training Package.
Publications
WIOA regularly produces two publications. These are a twice-yearly magazine WaterWorks and a quarterly newsletter Operator. In addition, Members receive a monthly e-news Words designed to keep everyone up to speed with the water industry and Association news and developments.
Conferences and Exhibitions
WIOA stages annual conferences and exhibitions in Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales where technical information is shared and our Corporate members can showcase their products, services and new technologies.
